6 Wineries Less Than 20 Minutes from Burlington
Washington State is the second largest producer of wine in the United States, and some of the best wineries in the state can be found right here in Skagit Valley. Skagit Valley is Washington’s only official viticultural Area on the west side of the Cascade Mountain Range. So if you’re visiting Skagit Valley, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least stop by a winery.
To help with that, we’ve spotlighted a few here that are just a quick drive from Burlington!
Tulip Valley Winery: 12 min drive
Just southwest of Burlington is Tulip Valley Winery, a family owned establishment that produces red and white wines, as well as variety of hard ciders. Their grapes are grown in eastern Washington, and brought to Skagit to be crushed, aged, and bottled. During the annual Tulip Festival, they offer helicopter rides, local art shows, and local vendors. Their venue is also available for events and private tastings.
Glacier Peak Wines: 13 min drive
Located just 13 minutes west of Burlington, Glacier Peak Winery is in the center of Skagit’s signature tulip fields. Using grapes grown in Western Washington, Glacier Peak produces Siegerrebe, Agria, and world-class Pinot Noir. Their tasting room also serves local cheeses, ACME Ice Cream, and a variety of olive oils and vinegars.
Pasek Cellars: 15 min drive
Located South of Burlington in Mt. Vernon, Pasek Cellars is known for their wide array of fruit wines. These include wines made from cranberry, blackberry, raspberry, loganberry, and blueberry. In addition, they have 5 port-style dessert wines and a selection of classic grape wines. Their tasting room is open daily.
Bertelsen Winery: 16 min drive
Bertelsen Winery produces Pinor Noir, Pinot Gris, and Madeleinne Angevine grapes of seven different varietals. Their signature venue is "The Vine", which can hold 100-200 people and features bright glass chandeliers. The venue is available to rent for private events. Check their website for updates on live music and other events.
Carpenter Creek Winery: 17 min drive
Using a combination of grapes from Eastern and Western Washington, Carpenter Creek Winery produces fine varietal wines, specialty wines, and premium wine blends. They sell gourmet local food products, wine accessories, select merchandise, and apparel in their tasting room and storefront. Keep an eye on their schedule for events (including live music).
Eagle Haven Winery: 17 min drive
Just a short jaunt on highway 20 brings you to Eagle Haven Winery, situated in Sedro-Woolley. All of their wine is crushed, pressed, produced, and bottled onsite. They have a variety of reds, whites, and fruit wines available for tasting and purchase. Their tasting room also features a cozy sitting area with couches and a fireplace.
