Skagit Ale Trail: Day Two
If you are looking for a way to pass the time during these dark January days, give our recommended “Day Two” route of the Skagit Farm to Pint Ale Trail a try. Taste your way through the town of La Conner and finish up with window shopping in Mount Vernon. It’s the perfect winter activity!
Stop #1: La Conner Brewing Co.
Start off today’s beer adventure with a morning exploration of the waterside village of La Conner. The brewery opens daily at noon, so you have time to meander and window shop beforehand. La Conner Brewing Co. and The Firehall are family-operated and feature a wide range of beers and wood-fired pizzas, making them the perfect lunch stop on this Ale Trail adventure day.
Afterwards, take the long way to your next destination and visit a couple local favorites:
Christianson’s Nursery & Greenhouse - This expansive nursery sprawls over Skagit Valley’s stunning farmland and offers a wide variety of common and uncommon plants, garden tools, antiques & gifts. It has the largest selection of roses and perennials in Northwest Washington, and is staffed by experienced horticulturalists to address your plant care questions. They even offer classes, if you have time to schedule one in advance.
Schuh Farms - This family farm offers delicious pies and baked confections, canned goods, fresh produce, beautiful flowers, and more. Depending on what time of the year you visit, you can enjoy their U-pick fruit fields or seasonal events.
Stop #2: North Sound Brewing Co.
Owned and operated since 2010, brews from this location are inspired by U.K. and Irish-style ales. Beers served from North Sound’s 14 taps are fresh, unfiltered, and made with a northwest twist. The 21+ taproom and beer garden is open seven days a week and dog-friendly!
Stop #3: 192 Brewing Company
Named for the square footage of its original brewery shed, 192 Brewing Company’s Mount Vernon location is proud to offer strictly Washington-made beers, wines, and ciders. The brewery rotates through guest taps from other local breweries and features a variety of wines, full menu of fresh food, and snacks for kids.
Don’t forget to keep collecting those Ale Trail stamps at each brewery to receive your prize at the end of the trail!
Stop #4: District Brewing
District Brewing, located in the historic Lyric Theater, is perched on the revitalized Riverwalk in Mount Vernon and offers stunning views of the brewery from both floors of the restaurant’s two-story glass windows. The restaurant has bars on both levels and has 20 taps of delicious brews, which pair superbly with the movie-themed pizzas, pastas, and appetizers.
If you still have time and energy left after this last stop, check out any of these local attractions to finish out your adventure:
Little Mountain Park: This park’s extensive network of paths allow visitors to “pick their own adventure,” no matter what it looks like! Stroll, jog, hike, or bike along any of its trails.
